Our lives are busier and busier! You never know when you may need to run out of the house and might not be home for some time. If you have a pet, this scenario can create serious stress. Automatic pet feeders on the market are expensive and require batteries, wires, and wi-fi connection. There was nothing simple (battery/wire-free) and at a reasonable price. A startup business began designing an easy-to-use pet feeder, featuring a quiet mechanical timer with no a/c adapter or batteries needed. In order to bring this pet feeder from design to production and finally to market, the client approached Allen Field to integrate product engineering, prototyping, sourcing, and manufacturing.
Allen Field Co. started with the client’s napkin drawings and took the project from tooling to production. We accomplished this by utilizing our advanced product development cycle, which includes:
- The in-house engineering team modifying the original design of the pet feeder to overcome the defect elements and production constraints.
- The global production team building prototypes and tooling in a timely manner; while simultaneously, the sourcing team acquiring all necessary components from reliable sources.
- Modeling, 3D printing, CNC, and light assembly, Allen Field tested the product before greenlighting the production run.
- The products fine-tuning went through rigorous design for manufacturing tests which Allen Field has developed over the years as the result of its extensive experience.
Allen Field was able to translate an idea into a finished product through superior project management every step of the way. The result is an affordable automatic pet feeder that is pet tested, BPA free, and does NOT require wires, batteries, or wi-fi connection – simply schedule meals and control portions for your furry friend. During the entire course of the project, the client was kept up to date on all developments.
